As a Development Chef, you will work as part of the manufacturing team, provide innovate and new concepts for our business to business customers and will deliver and drive culinary standards through the business.

RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY TASKS

  1. Introduce new concepts and ideas to the business. Work with the NPD Manager to develop and deliver innovation pipeline for key manufacturing accounts.
  2. Deliver customer focussed developments based on customer and market understanding for existing products and ranges.
  3. Strengthen relationships with key customers, and develop new and existing innovation opportunities.
  4. Creation of innovative food concepts which are commercially viable whilst providing the inspirational stretch for EPC and maintaining and strengthening our position in the market.
  5. Keep up to date with competitor activity. Understand the markets our customers operate in and identify new opportunities. Support the team in the identification of potential new food trends, consumer & market insights.
  6. Present existing a new innovative concepts and ranges to internal and external customers in a range of formats (cooking demonstrations & customer presentations).
  7. Assist in the launch of new and existing products including writing recipes and procedures.
  8. Own your part in the smooth running of the development kitchen.
  9. Fully participate in sensory evaluation of new and existing products.
  10. Excellent interpersonal and team skills. Ability to communicate & influence at all levels of the business and influence key departments to deliver food passion and commercial NPD.
  11. Manage multiple projects & customers in a fast paced, pressured environment and deliver to agreed timeframes.
  12. Portray a positive image of the company and its values in a professional manner at all times.
  13. Manage multiple projects in a methodical manner, prioritise workloads and have a flexible approach.
  14. Demonstrate a consistent approach to Food Hygiene throughout the workplace.
  15. A flexible approach to travel regarding visiting customers and suppliers
  16. Any other duties which might reasonably be requested in association with this role in order to meet the needs of the business.
  17. Adhere to all company rules and procedures, paying particular attention to health and safety.

The Development Chef role is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week, based at our Newbury site. The benefit package includes a salary of up to £30,000 - £33,000 per annum, discretionary bonus, life assurance, childcare vouchers, pension scheme, access to healthcare cash plan and 31 days holiday (including bank holidays) increasing with years of service.
