We need a dynamic and proactive Production Planner to join our planning team. You will play a pivotal role in our department being responsible for the planning of over 500 SKUS we produce for some of the major UK retailers.  You will be liaising with multiple departments including Production, Commercial, Technical and NPD. There is plenty of room to develop and grow in the role, plus lots of opportunity to develop the function itself.  There will be a certain level of autonomy involved in the role, but it will also involve supporting and being part of our busy team of material and production planners. It is a great role if you like a fast paced changeable environment and are keen to develop within the food industry.

The Production Planner will produce a production plan which ensures availability of stock and maintaining required customer service levels, whilst facilitating the manufacturing team to achieve budgeted costs

Responsibilities / Key Tasks:

  1. Portray a positive image of the company and its values in a professional manner at all times.
  2. Work and contribute as part of the team providing support when needed and provide cover during periods of absence.
  3. Produce an efficient 2-3 week rolling plan maintaining adequate stock levels to customers in line with agreed rules of engagement.
  4. Maintain correct stock profile to achieve target customer service level of 99.0%.
  5. Liaise with production shift managers daily ensuring most efficient running orders, minimising down times, CIPs, fat flushes and line changes.
  6. Input and conversion of daily production schedules into ERP system (Unity).
  7. Minimise and track changes to the plan.
  8. Communicate any changes to the plan to the factory and other interested departments.
  9. Liaise with Engineers regarding planned maintenance of machines
  10. Liaise with Procurement Planner/Scheduler to ensure 100% availability of raw materials and packaging to meet the production plan.
  11. Host Planning Meeting (weekly) with all relevant attendees.
  12. Attend and contribute to any planning related meetings including suspended stock, new launches and demand meetings as requested.
  13. Maintain data integrity relating to unique parts
  14. Contribute and represent planning at the daily production tiered accountability meetings as required.
  15. Production of weekly planning KPI’s and Reports – feed into weekly S&OP / Business Planning meeting. Work with the team to provide consistent forms of reporting over all functions within the department.
  16. Liaise with Warehouse QA regarding short shelf life and slow moving stock to minimise any potential write offs and customer shortages due to short shelf life product.
  17. Produce a daily shortage report and communicate to all relevant departments.
  18. Adhere to all company rules and procedures, paying particular attention to health and safety
  19. Highlight and actively work on areas for improvement.
  20. Maintain good relationships across the business i.e. regularly reviewing stock profile with commercial department and highlighting any potential risks.
  21. Highlight any significant changes in demand/forecast to the Planning Manager.
  22. Any other duties which might reasonably be requested in association with this role in order to meet the needs of the business.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Production Planning / Scheduling experience; or other relevant supply chain experience
  • Highly numerate
  • Systems literate – Microsoft: Excel; Word; PowerPoint
  • Excellent communicator – verbal and written
  • Team player
  • Self-starter – can work under own initiative
  • Flexible and agile
  • High level of personal organisation
  • Attention to detail
  • Food industry experience – ideal, but not essential

The Production Planner is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week, based at our Newbury site. The compensation package includes a salary of up to £30,000, plus discretionary bonus, life assurance, childcare vouchers, pension scheme, access to healthcare cash plan and 31 days holiday (including bank holidays) increasing with years of service.
