We are currently recruiting for a 12 Month Interim Senior Product Developer to manage the development of successful products from concept to launch, with support from the Product Developer(s); Ensure the successful transfer of products from kitchen to factory, manage the NPD process for a range of specified accounts, to work as part of the NPD Team, liaising internally with the Marketing, Technical, Production and Commercial Teams to ensure the successful development of products; to support the Product Development Manager in the achievement of objectives and play an active role in the development of the company’s overall strategy.


  1. Drive the development of new products in response to customer briefs, ensuring that all products meet commercial, technical and customer requirements.
  2. Effectively manage team in the development of products from concept to launch and manage critical path for launch of new products.
  3. Manage the development of new products in response to customer briefs, ensuring that all products meet commercial, technical and customer requirements.
  4. Maintain awareness of new, innovative ingredients, raw materials, suppliers and relevant market trends to enable the development of ‘first to market’ products.
  5. Develop effective relationships with customers and suppliers regarding the development of products.
  6. Manage systems and information that can be accessed by all team members and make proposals for continuous improvement where necessary.
  7. Communicate effectively within the NPD Team, EPC and with customers to ensure the smooth and successful launch of new products, which meet the business standards for quality, safety and commercial.
  8. Proactively seek out NPD opportunities and ideas that will enhance business performance and complement customer strategies.
  9. A flexible approach to travel regarding visiting customers and suppliers.
  10. Demonstrate a consistent approach to Food Hygiene and Health & Safety procedures throughout the workplace.
  11. Liaise regularly with operations, commercial and technical teams to ensure smooth lines of communication and understanding.
  12. Any other duties which might reasonably be requested in association with this role in order to meet the needs of the business.
  13. Adhere to all company rules and procedures, paying particular attention to health and safety.
  14. Portray a positive image of the company and its values in a professional manner at all times.

Candidate Specifications


  • Able to manage and prioritise a varied workload
  • Can identify and create new ideas, approaches or insights to product development
  • Keeps an open mind to ideas and solutions from others
  • Asks questions and challenges in a positive manner – ‘challenges the norm’
  • Experience in food manufacturing
  • Can take the initiative, acts with confidence and works under own direction as appropriate
  • Demonstrates honesty and has strong moral principles
  • Is proactive in establishing good relationships with our team and customers.


  • Experience in Epc sectors – Mayonnaise, Chutneys and Dressings
  • Experience of working on multiple projects/accounts
  • Management experience

The Senior Product Developer role is a 12 month Interim full time role working 37.5 hours per week, based at our Newbury site. The benefit package includes a salary range of £33,000- £38,000 according to individual skills and previous experience, discretionary bonus, life assurance, childcare vouchers, pension scheme, access to healthcare cash plan and 31 days holiday (including bank holidays) increasing with years of service.
